Pupils at this stage will be able to observe, copy, discover and describe what they have learned.

The PE curriculum will aim to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It will provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness for lifelong participation.

In key stage 3 pupils will further develop theirs skill level and knowledge in a number of activities. These will include swimming, basketball/netball, handball, volleyball, football, athletics, cross country, badminton/tennis, striking & fielding and gymnastics. Pupils will build on and embed the physical development and skills learned in key stages 1 and 2, become more competent and confident to apply these skills across different sports and physical activities. Pupils will understand what makes a performance effective and how to apply these principles to their own and others’ work. Pupils should aim to engage with wider sporting opportunities to help improve performance and to help them understand and apply the long-term health benefits of physical activity.
